Immerse yourself in the vibrant sight sights, sounds, and flavors of Nisyrian culture, and experience the power of a community that has thrived for generations!
A Brief History
On April 5, 1915, the Gnomagoras Nisyrian Society came into existence by merging the initial two Nisyrian societies, namely OMIROS (HOMER) established in 1903, and PORFYRIS (an ancient name of Nisyros) created in 1906.
Over the years, the Nisyrian Society of New York has played an important role in promoting Nisyrian culture and traditions. The organization has organized numerous cultural events, including festivals, dances, and concerts, to showcase the island's music, dance, and cuisine. Additionally, the Society has provided support to members of the Nisyrian community in New York, including scholarships and financial assistance to students and families in need. Today, the Nisyrian Society of New York continues to serve as a vital link between the Nisyrian community in New York and their cultural heritage, helping to preserve and promote the unique traditions and customs of the island
